Making progress on the house

However slowly, it is progress. I decided to go ahead a rip out what was once the front entrance, porch and bay window. This part of the house opened on the side an I felt it was a bit awkward. The whole front has been taken off to be replaced by new doors. This allows a lot of freedom on the style of house this one will become along with the type and amount of doors or windows to choose from. You can't really do that as much with a back opening house. All of the interior walls have been removed as well. The side walls have been filled and sanded and filled and sanded and dare I say filled again. I am undecided about so many things for this house right now save a few must haves that I have always dreamed about for my own house like slate roof, stone exterior and an elegant eclectic interior.

When you renovate you don't go for half measures!! Take your time thinking about what you want to do, but maybe not as much time as I'm inclined too!!

Sounds like you will almost be starting from scratch, but might as well make it just how you want now, before you get halfway through decorating it. I'm sure you have it looking fabulous in not time!

That is a big makeover :-)). That is the fun of mini homes. Without hammers and saws scrapping your walls, you can delete them without even collapse on. I wish you much success and especially pleasure with the renovations

Removing that awkward little porch/entrance was brilliant! Opens up many new possibilities. Giving new life to an old dollhouse is such fun, though tons of work. Did you see the one over at Small Talk? She has several "before and after"posts..

This is looking so good! If you think your progress is slow, I have been plodding along on Joanna's house since she got it for Christmas in 2008! Maybe I will get it finished before she is in college. I go to her fifth grade awards ceremony this a.m. before work!

It may be slow, but you are being thorough! The work on my dollhouse has stopped while I am working far away from home...someday I will get back to it.

The beginnings of projects can feel slow because of the preparation work like sanding, painting... But it's also the best time to dream and plan what you want it to look like. :) I'm sure your house is going to be beautiful!
